In mainstream media, being self-deprecating was always a trait of the ‘good guy’ while being arrogant was the trait of the ‘bad guy’.

But I now think that’s not completely true. The good guy is actually trying to be humble, but their humbleness is taken to the extreme while the bad guy is actually being confident but that is also taken to the extreme.

I think these traits have been taken to the extreme to just solidify the ideal of Good vs Evil.

I think that what we as creative people should be doing is depicting characters that are equal parts good and bad because then we not only further ‘humanise’ characters, but we also begin to depict the truth.

Additional thought.

I realise now why I’m so self-deprecating.

It’s because when I see the ‘good guy’ be self-deprecating, I assume it’s the right thing to do, but maybe what I should be looking at is the villain, because (when dialed down a little) the villain is usually portrayed as confident.

Then again, I don’t know because I’m currently sick with the flu so my head’s muddly.

(TW: Insecurity)

I am afraid of many things.

As humans we are programmed with fear to keep us alive. Being alive was a good thing until life went sour.

Fear progressed from a basic instinct of survival to a much more complicated and confusing emotion. Long ago, our fears were “Don’t freeze to death and don’t pat the hungry looking bear.” Now they have manifested into a fear of not being accepted.

For me, writing in general has helped me cope with the fact that I’m not “normal”. My dreams are not like those of my friends. My attitude is not like those of the people my age.

People my age are very unkind. Every day, day in day out, I am picked apart by people I thought to be my friends. I am told that I am ugly. I am told that I am nothing but the punch line to a joke.

I am told that I am worthless.

And when you’re told something over and over again you begin to believe it. If you tell a baby that a pineapple is a pear everyday, they begin to believe it.

One thing these people tell me is that I am too sensitive. Well, now I realise I’m not too sensitive.

I am a human. I have my limits and my boundaries. And I know when you’re crossing them.

To those people, I ask one thing of your.

Please begin treating me like a human being.

Ramble Session #1

So I’ve decided to do a ramble session. I’m literally only going to write whatever comes to my mind and this’ll be like having a conversation with me! Yay.

Gosh, I’m sarcastic.

And hungry.

But I already finished all the chips, so I have to wait until I deem it acceptable to have lunch. Which is in an hour.

You know, outside of the internet, I have friends, though a majority of them don’t live where I live and there’s no way I’m paying a ticket to fly to their places. That’s what video calls on Hangouts are for!

Speaking of, I’m that one friend that refuses to have any form of social media other that Google+. How sad am I?!

Anyway, as I was saying, my friends in the real world and live near me, I don’t if I should count as friends. Their more like, I dunno, people that I spend the day with, and kind of like, but past that, I do NOTHING with them. The rest of them go and hangout together and I’m just like “Can I come?” and they sort of look and me and go “Naaahhhh…”

But it’s fine! I have you guys (which I still don’t get, I mean, people like to hear jabber on about stuff!?) the Goodreads community, and this one friend I’ve been messaging for the last 5 hours that should be awake by now and isn’t responding to any of my messages and we were supposed to have a video call today.

I’m trying to find a wordcount on here, but I can’t find it. Maybe there isn’t a wordcount on WordPress…?

Well anyways, thanks for listening (or technically reading!) my ramble. I hope you enjoyed it!

Trends come and go. I think we all agree that I’m stating the obvious. But, honestly, some there are some trends that I just don’t understand…

I’ll just talk about one today.

And gosh do I hate it…

It pains me to even type it…

(GAH, gimme a sec to prepare myself)

You know that weird auto-tune extremely high voice. Yeah, I think you know which one I’m talking about. Like when you stub your toe on the leg of a table and you scream out in pain, then your voice cracks.

Yep that one.

And, look, I get it. Some of you guys think that it’s fine, and I’m not judging, but I honestly don’t care for it. What happened to just normal singing. I mean, have you ever listened to Barbra Streisand singing ‘Don’t Rain On My Parade’? (If you haven’t I’ll put the link somewhere in this blog post).

I’d be a happy person if I turned on the radio, and for the entire car ride, I don’t listen to that voice. Not even once. (And also no ads, because that takes up 3/4 of the car ride).

I know this is more rant-y than usual, but I really needed to get this of my chest.

Well Then…

Many things happened these last few months that I want to go over in a numbered recap. This is gonna be a while, so just hang in there, grab a charger, and maybe some food (I suggest cereal because why not?!)

  1. Sherlock Season 4 began, then it ended, and I’m still not over it.
  2. Hamilton erupted (very rudely) into my life.
  3. I tried many times to the Newsies jump (each time I failed miserably).
  4. I got into musical theatre.
  5. I feel like I know the plot of Hamilton inside out.
  6. I got into roleplaying on Goodreads.
  7. I made FRIENDS ON GOODREADS. That was in all caps because I’m wondering how I actually made friends.
  8. I found an oddly accurate definition of me on Urban Dictionary.
  9. I got Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas and I finished reading them in about a week.
  10. I came back in contact with a friend of mine.
  11. I (sort of) dumped a friend of mine (or at least I thought this person was a friend of mine…)
  13. I got WAYYYYY into my Goodreads groups (it’s kind of worrying). Every time I go on my laptop (and there is good WiFi) the first thing I check is my Goodreads.
  14. I finished Castle. Again.
  15. I’m halfway through the Grimm Brothers Original Tales book. (Yes singular) (IT’S A THICK BOOK!)

There you guys have it! I did quite a few things this few months and I’m still very proud to be a slightly socially-awkward fangirl!

Thank for listening (or technically reading)!

Top 5 OTP’s

So today I’ll be talking about my top 5 OTP’s. As you may or might not know OTP stands for One True Pairing (so It’s sort of ironic that I’m even doing this blog post). OTP is usually a term coined in the fandom.

So let the list BEGIN!!!

5. Scomiche

Scomiche is the ship between two members of the a cappella group Pentatonix, Scott and Mitch. They run a YouTube channel called Superfruit. They’ve known each other for YEARS now, so they know each other very well. I know this is pretty mainstream, but I love it nevertheless…

4. Baz and Simon (from Carry On, by Rainbow Rowell)

I also love the two main characters and there absolute, undying love for each other. Even though a lot of people think that Carry On is a Harry Potter rip-off, therefore not worth reading, I still love Carry On. Baz and Simon have this dynamic that I always crave for in a fictional relationship.

3. Wolfstar (Harry Potter)

Wolfstar is the ship between two of the Harry Potter marauders, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. The name originates from the root words of their names. Sirius is the name of a star and Lupin is the name of the wolf that found Rome, hence WolfStar. I mainly ship them because, why not.

And they literally stare at each other for more than 100 lines. COME ON!

2. Dramione (Harry Potter)

Were any of you surprised when I said this? No, not really is probably your answer. I Dramione is the ship between Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger. I absolutely love it because I love to see their hate, blossom into friendship and finally love. It really is a rollercoaster of emotions.

  1. JOHNLOCK (Sherlock)

Need I explain any further than this…

(credits go to Zimbio for this one).
